5 Self Care Tips for the Busy Mama
Hey Mama’s!
I have been so busy. Some days feel almost impossible. My clean laundry sits in a basket for DAYS and that is where I pick out what I’m going to wear. Relatable?
I wanted to just write this quick post to tell y’all that you aren’t alone. I have created ways to prioritize me while also juggling everything else that needs to be done in a day.
5 Self Care Tips for the Busy Mama
Carve out ‘me’ time:
Now I know this one sounds really hard. TRUST ME - mix in the mom guilt (don’t even get me started). It’s possible. Carve out me time even if it’s 5 - 10 minutes. My ‘me’ time usually comes while my little one is napping. Even though in the back of my mind I am telling myself that I have a billion things that could get done, I HAVE to make sure I take time just for me. The things will get done - eventually.
Move your body:
This one also can sound daunting! Some days you may not want to move at all. I promise you will feel better, even if you’re moving for 5 - 10 minutes, your body and your brain will thank you! I am going to eventually come up with a “mommy and me” workout because I find that sometimes it’s just impossible to get to the gym or I just don’t want to! My toddler is still a big fan of being in her baby carrier (baby wearing) and I can get some good 30lb squats in with her on my back ‘OKAY!?’
Delegate and say NO:
This one can be tricky especially for the people pleasers of the world (hello that’s me). I have had to actively practice this one, but it’s so important and I feel so much better not doing something I feel obligated or guilted into to doing. I am also an introvert so saying no feel really great sometimes - when appropriate (I am also working on you know, having a girls night because that is GOOD for me).
Stay Connected with your Passions!
I LOVE being a mom. I LOVE my daughter so much and I am obsessed. She is my whole world. I also love working out. I love art, and I love woodworking. It is so important for us to remember that we are also people outside of our little ones and not to get completely lost in our motherhood where it’s harder to come back. What I have noticed is that my daughter loves to draw and paint. She loves to do woodworking because she sees mama doing it. She also comes to the gym with me, and loves to workout! She’s still so young, but I am showing her that mommy is doing what she loves, and sharing that joy with her. All great habits that she’ll have and it’s all fun for her.
Prioritize Rest and WATER:
Okay this one is also really hard and I still struggle everyday. Rest - I rest when I can. My trick is getting all the evening things done before bedtime rather than after my little is asleep because once she’s in the bed, I’m also in the bed for the night! HA. We make it an activity, we are all cleaning toys, kitchen(s - thank you Christmas) and getting ready for bed as a family. This also makes it a fun activity for her. Water - just drink it girl. Drink water all the time. Hydrate. It’ll clear your skin. GLOW UP GIRL!
TAKE CARE OF YOU SO YOU CAN TAKE CARE OF EVERYTHING ELSE THE WORLD IS THROWING YOUR WAY!
