POV: The 20 minute power nap

Are you a toddler parent? Then you already know what I am referring to…

That 20 minute power nap on the way home before the actual nap time is supposed to start. The nap where you know they’re going to get home and sleep GOOD - but you have to make that 20 minute drive back home first… and or course they fall asleep in the car. Regardless of the hype, the loud talking, the excitement as you’re trying to hype them up to stay awake…

That 20 minute power nap fuels them up to no end. It gives them power and courage to take on the world (you included) and not blink twice. How is it that these small wonderful powerful people who need sleep can obtain so much power in 20 minutes? You thought you were going to get a lil 2 hour rest? You thought wrong. HA

What I have been learning in my motherhood journey is that it’s not the end of the world. Nothing is the end of the world. My daughter wanted eggs and cornbread for breakfast. Yes ma’am, that’s not a fight I want to get into today. I saw a little one with Bluey slippers on at story time at the library today. When I said oh they’re so cute! Her mom said “Yeah, that’s not a battle I wanted to fight today.”

You know what? Sometimes we really have to choose our battles. I choose peace. So my little one had her 20 minute power nap, it’s 4pm, I am writing this blog and she’s sitting behind me drifting off while reading her books.

That’s my blog for the day. Stay strong parents, stay strong and hope for an early bedtime on days like this!

Need some meal ideas!? Check out what I just made! I hope this helps take the mental load off of ONE part of your day!
